Analyst (Intern)
Coalition Ventures | Cambridge, MA | Paid internship, part-time during the semester or full-time summer
The role
Coalition Ventures writes the first institutional check into frontier-technology companies: next-gen computing, resilient communications, physical AI and autonomy, and advanced manufacturing. We are looking for an Analyst Intern to work directly with the General Partner on the front end of the investment process.
You will do the work an analyst does at a top early-stage firm: find companies, screen them, write them up, and bring your own view on what matters. On a team this small, what you produce goes straight into decisions.
What you will do
- Source. Scan the places frontier founders come from: university spinouts, labs, accelerators, and government programs. Surface the companies worth a look and make the case for them.
- Screen. Write first-pass reads on new companies: what they do, who is building it, who else is in the space, how big the market is, and whether the technology is plausible. One page, plain English.
- Map. Build market maps and competitive landscapes for the sectors we are actively hunting in, and tell us where our lens should widen.
- Build. Contribute to our infrastructure and build your own tools to help Coalition and the companies we back.
- Sit in. Join founder calls and diligence sessions, take notes, and track follow-ups.
What we are looking for
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, or within a year of graduating. Engineering, physics, computer science, or another technical field is a strong plus.
- Clear, short writing.
- Comfort building with AI tools and agents, and a habit of using them to research faster and think sharper.
- Self-directed. We give you a target and a deadline; you figure out the rest and ask good questions along the way.
- Real curiosity about frontier technology and why it matters, with something you have already dug into on your own.
Details
- Commitment: 10 to 15 hours per week during the semester, or 10 to 12 weeks full-time in summer. Dates are flexible.
- Location: Cambridge, MA (Harvard Square).
- Compensation: Paid. Academic credit is fine if your program supports it.
- Path: Strong interns are first in line for full-time analyst roles as the firm grows.
How to apply: Send a resume and a one-page write-up (under 400 words) on a frontier-tech company you find interesting and why, to tom@coalition.ventures. Rolling review.
