About Coalition Ventures

Coalition Ventures is first capital for frontier technology. We write the first institutional check into technical founders building in four areas: Next-Gen Computing (optical, analog, novel silicon, hybrid architectures), Resilient Communications (robust, secure, adaptive links with massive capacity), Physical AI and Autonomy (machines that sense, decide, and act in the physical world), and Advanced Manufacturing (new processes, infrastructure, and domestic supply chains).

We invest at pre-seed, which means we take real technical risk and back founders before the rest of the market is comfortable doing so. Beyond capital, we help founders with go-to-market, deep technical diligence, and non-dilutive defense R&D funding that de-risks the technology ahead of the next round.

The role

You will work directly with the General Partner across sourcing, diligence, and portfolio, and you will help shape where the firm looks and how it decides.

The role fits someone 0 to 3 years out of school who wants to learn first-check venture from the inside, can take an open-ended problem and build the structure around it, and has a point of view on the technologies we back.

What you will do

  • Sourcing. Build and run the engine that finds technical founders early.
  • Thesis. Learn our investment lens, pressure-test it, and bring your own perspective on where we should be looking next and why.
  • Diligence. Evaluate companies at inception: technology, market, team, competition, and the path to Series A. Write clear overviews and memo sections that inform investment decisions.
  • Systems. Contribute to our infrastructure and build your own tools to help Coalition and the companies we back.
  • Portfolio. Track portfolio progress and support quarterly reporting and deal execution.

What we are looking for

  • 0 to 3 years of experience. Venture experience is not required. Engineering, science, operating, military, and consulting backgrounds all work.
  • A technical or quantitative background, strongly preferred. We dig into the technology, and you need to form your own view from a paper or a data sheet.
  • Strong, clear writing. Most of what you produce will be read, not heard.
  • A builder mindset with AI, agents, and tooling. You reach for automation first and ship what you build.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a bias to act.
  • Real curiosity about frontier technology and its role in national resilience, with opinions of your own.

Location: Cambridge, MA (Harvard Square).
